Mami Wata Nordic, UK / Sweden  - Host & Co-Founder of CandleLight Studios

Artist, author, educator originally from London, and now based in Sweden, Mami Wata has worked as a musician in various projects, beginning her journey into sound for relaxation through lullabies — a form of music she has always loved. She instinctively found herself gently soothing her unborn daughter and herself by singing, discovering the power of sound as a tool for comfort and connection and still continues to use singing in this way years later.

She now teaches singing, leads choirs most recently at Cassels, and has began offering meditative concerts using voice, drums and melodic instruments like the kalimba and marimba.

Mami Wata experienced her first sound meditation with Susanne Björck and has been in awe of gongs ever since.
Mami will be one of six gong players holding space through the overnight sound meditation in our candlelit sanctuary — a rare and powerful collective sound experience.

A Wim Hof Method practitioner and trainee instructor, Mami Wata will also support with the Wim Hof fundamentals workshop in the morning.

Mami Wata is named after the powerful West African sea deity, a tribute to her Ghanaian roots and her connection to water.

Kari Korkeamäki, Sweden - Gong Player

Kari has been playing the gong since 11/11/2011. On that day, he opened his first gong package—a Mercurio gong—to play at a festival with his teacher, Massimo Piazza, in Italy. He then traveled around the country, performing alongside him. Massimo was a student of Don Conreaux, making that tradition Kari’s entry point into the wonderful world of the gong.

Since then, Kari has pursued further training with various teachers and has played in many different locations across Sweden and Ireland.

His passion for the gong and its impact on both humans and animals is what continuously drives him to explore the world of sound healing—by experimenting with and adding other instruments such as Himalayan singing bowls, crystal bowls, didgeridoo, monochord, and more.

Seeing people return from a gong bath with awe in their eyes, amazed by what sound can do, is an unmatched and incredible experience.

Sharing the gong’s ability to cleanse, transform, and heal is a true privilege.

Susanne Björck, Sweden - Organiser, Yoga Teacher & Gong Player

Music, sound, and sonic experiences have always been close to Susanne’s heart. Though not a trained musician, she found deep resonance in the powerful vibrations of gongs and singing bowls — instruments that allowed her to “play” while offering a spiritual connection.

She loves discovering tones, vibrations, and frequencies that resonate with different people, emotions, and energies.

Susanne runs her own practice, Taktilpunkten, working with energies and vibrations in various forms — primarily through acupuncture and craniosacral therapy. She also teaches yoga, often closing sessions with deeply relaxing gong baths.

She has studied gong with masters like Don Conreaux, Methab Benton, Tom Soltron, and Jens Zygar, and enjoys working with the five elements — especially under the light of the full moon.

Join Susanne at Candlelight Studios, where she will lead the overnight gong meditation alongside five other players, as well as lead a Forrest yoga session and a full moon fire ceremony.

Eileen Murray, Sweden - Gong Player

I am Irish and have lived in Sweden for eight years. I am a licensed nurse, biodynamic body therapist, stethoscope massage therapist (trained in the Gerda Boyesen method), and psychotherapist. In addition, I am a teacher of conscious movement, a practitioner of Therapy in Motion, and the holder of a medical Qigong lineage.

Since moving to Sweden, I have also learned to play the gong and now incorporate gong playing into my dance classes – supporting participants in accessing new perspectives through movement and sound.

I have worked in Australia, Sweden, the UK, and Ireland, and I bring a rich and diverse professional background into my practice.

I am currently in a two-year shamanic training with Chris Lüttichau of Northern Drum, deepening my connection with Indigenous wisdom and healing traditions.

Today, I share this work through individual sessions, classes, and workshops – creating a space where movement, stillness, and deep listening meet. A space where people can reconnect with themselves, move beyond limitations, and discover the inner freedom that lies within.

My approach is grounded, compassionate, and deeply rooted in decades of study, personal practice, and professional experience.

Michel Parmlind, Sweden - Gong Player

I have been interested in nature since childhood but didn't really understand why until I started yoga and learned to meditate.

In yoga I came into contact with drums and gongs which have since meant a lot to me.

Shamanism has also become a strong awakening within me as the understanding of my interest and attraction to nature has been explained.

Drums and Gongs have become fantastic tools for meditation and Healing for me.

A little about experience and training:

In yoga I have attended the forrestyoga summercamp 2013-2017 in Säter for Helena, Jambo and Sandra, have also practiced Tibetanyoga, Yinyoga and Mediyoga.

In Gongspel I have attended Gong healing therapy for Vikrampal Sandes in Molkom.

In shamanism I have attended the medicine wheel for Björn and Maria Löken in Nyhyttan.

The drum and the power of the assembly for Lasse, Gustav and Runahild in Avesta a number of times.

Back to the roots (Mother pinetree's wisdom) Year course for Mira in Avesta.

Lena Egilsson, Sweden  — Facilitator of FULL MOON Fire Ceremony and Gong Player

Lena Egilsson - physiotherapist, Mediyoga therapist, and shamanic practitioner whose journey with the gong began in 2012. A single recorded gong sound captured her heart and set her on a transformative path through yoga, sound, and the Q’ero shamanic tradition. Since then, she has trained across Sweden, Norway, and Peru — weaving together healing practices from body to spirit.

-My name is Lena Egilsson, and I am now retired.

My first encounter with the gong was during a Mediyoga Instructor Training in 2012.

I was completely fascinated by the vibrations and sound of the gong—and that was just from a CD recording.

I took a course/workshop with Adam Svensson and Jimmy Andersson, and then bought my first gong.

After that, I attended a course with Metab Benton at the yoga center Mangalam.

I continued training to become a yoga teacher/therapist in Mediyoga, which proved very useful in my professional life as a physiotherapist and talk therapist, as I incorporated yoga both in group settings and individually as a complement to other treatments.

It was also through the gong that I came into contact with the Q’ero tradition and the shamanic path, which I later came to follow.

At the gong course at Mangalam, I met Bjørn Løken from Norway—professor of percussion at the Oslo Symphony Orchestra and a shaman.

I bought a gong from him and signed up for a shamanic course (Medicine Wheel) that he and Marie Ytterman Hjalmarsson led.

You could say the gong playing there changed my life. I continued with their courses and also went on a few journeys with them—to Scotland and Bali, among other places.

In 2017, I traveled to Q’ero in Peru. It was a group trip organized by Victor Forselius.

We visited the Q’ero people in their villages high up in the Andes, at over 4,000 meters elevation.

Some of their pacos (shamans) were with us throughout the trip, guiding us to sacred places and holding ceremonies with us.
