We launched in 2024 with a vision to create creative and wellness events for locals and people from further afield. The premises, a charming old church disused due to the decline of parishioners, came up for sale. Ola and Annemarie, with a shared background in education, music, performing, writing, screen-printing and producing events, decided to bring CandleLight Studios back to life. We launched with an Open House event where locals were given a tour of the premises, took a peek at our music studio and saw the baptism pool on the altar being used for ice bathing for the very first time! Most importantly they were given the opportunity to share their own needs for a local space like ours. The majority asked for yoga classes, so we listened and introduced yoga classes and a myriad of other activities and events to support the mind, body and soul.
We pride ourselves in being a safe, welcoming and inclusive space to gather, share, listen, learn and leave with hope and light.
Candlelight Studios is co-founded by Annemarie Anang, who works professionally in the wellness industry under the name Mami Wata Nordic. With over two decades of experience across teaching, music, performance, and well-being, her work sits at the intersection of creativity, embodiment, and community. She is an author, musician, actress, and former primary school teacher whose creative work centers on belonging, identity, joy, and emotional well-being. Her acclaimed children's books, I Am Nefertiti and Dance Just Like So! , have been widely recognized for their contribution to empathy, inclusion, and creative expression. She is a member of pop-rock band Clyde Circus , who create and perform songs of hope, resilience and freedom.
Alongside her creative practice, Mami Wata Nordic is a certified Wim Hof Method instructor. The method has played a significant role in her own journey, supporting greater calm, clarity, and resilience, and she now shares it through grounded, inclusive workshops that prioritize safety, accessibility, and personal responsibility. At Candlelight Studios, she brings together breathwork, cold exposure, mindset training, sound, and creative expression, reflecting her belief that well-being and creativity are deeply interconnected. Mami Wata was born in London with roots in Ghana.
Öla Eklöf is our second co-founder - a multi-instrumentalist, producer, and master screen printer with roots in both Stockholm and the local area. A member of the band Clyde Circus , his creative work spans music production, sound, and visual craft, bringing a strong hands-on sensibility to the studio's creative life.
Öla is responsible for Candlelight Studios' music studio and screen printing workshop , where he draws on nearly two decades of experience in printmaking. He is known for his technical skill, attention to detail, and ability to translate creative ideas into high-quality, tactile results.
Alongside his work in music and print, Öla also has extensive experience as a chef, contributing a practical, grounded understanding of craft, process, and hospitality. His wide-ranging expertise and deep connection to place play a central role in shaping Candlelight Studios as a space where creativity, making, and community come together in a real and meaningful way.
